Honey Bee Showcase - Corrugated Cardboard

Happy Wednesday, and here it is June 1st already!!  The year is half over, and school is ending... it's the beginning of hurricane season here in Florida, and summer vacations are beginning... What is happening in your part of the garden?

Based on June's great Motivations on Monday the HoneyBees have created some awesome projects with Corrugated Cardboard, or Crimped Papers this week.... Let's have a look!

In keeping with the tender feelings of honoring our military heroes this week, I have chosen a red, white and blue theme.  The upper star field is made from a Diet Coke can, tinted with Copics, then embossed with the Cuttlebug.  My star was cut by hand, and embellished with an awesome button and gold metallic crochet cotton.  My sentiments are heat embossed, and I've finished up with three sparkly gems.

Today we are showing you how you can use corrugated chipboard on your projects! 

My friend June provided you with a host of inspiration on Monday and I knew when I saw her cards exactly what I want to do! 

I think this is my first "legal" sized card - 9"x4"

I am a *proud* member of the Cricut Circle and we had a challenge to case a card in the private magazine that is provided for us! I have never cased a card to this extent and thought it was just charming so I chose this one. 

I took a screen shot of this card to share with you so you could see how closely I cased it. In the magazine, we get cut sizes, recipes, and instructions so it was easy to follow closely.

Every Monday at Betty Bee's Buzz is Monday Motivational. This week Honey Bee June did a great tutorial on corregated cardboard. Judy Ford

I've never worked with corrugated cardboard before now. I took Queen Betty's suggestion and ripped the top off a box... great therapy!!!  Then I took June's suggestion that it can be cut with Szzix die cuts easier than with the Cricut Expression.

I have 2 Sizzix die cuts and 1 SU die cut in my arsenal. Here are the cards I made.

Rosemary

This was such a great challenge for me because I dusted off my Fiskars crimper; a tool I haven't used in a long time!!  Using my Mother's Day Bouquet cartridge, I cut scallop circles and then ran them through the crimper.  For the pot (bowl), I used a Sizzix die, crimped and then used my brown Copic, brown chalk and brown ink for added dimension.  Sizzix die for the leaves, Stickles, Prima flowers, Cuttlebug embossing folder for the card and Imaginisce I-top for the center in this popped flower.

I used a piece of Cardboard box for my corrugated paper.  I'm in the process of moving my craft room.. (uggg what a mess).  So I couldn't find my handy dandy crimper...  But not to despair -  look how cool it turned out.  I used paper from my monthly craft kit.  The digi is one I've had for a while and I apologize, as I'm not sure who's it is..

Welcome to this week's BUZZ, BRAG and BEE HAPPY FRIDAY!  It's wonderful to have Rosemary back with us!  There is some very happy stuff in the hive this week!!

Well, I finally got a project done!! It felt good getting into my scraproom and playing with my stash. I have been wanting to use my Imaginisce magnets that I purchased and never used. While visiting Target, I found the cutest journal on sale for under $3.00. The book is canvas and such a cool print that I didn't want to cover it up. I did a search and found the idea for the flower magnet book closure, but no matter how many times I looked at the YouTube video, I just wasn't getting it to work. So, I came up my own method and it works!..The flowers are glued to the magnet and then the magnet is glued to the book. It took a few tries with ribbon and found the lighter ribbon works best. I did a decorative cover inside to hide the ribbon and everything is secure. So, do the Ns look a little funky? They should. I didn't have any Ns, so I used a couple Ms and cut them..I think it works with the album..lol..

Inside the journal I will help Nina set it up to be more than just a journal. When we were at the Mall, she found a journal that had comments for her to answer..Cool and very fun. So, I cut a few mats for photos. Example would be her photo on the first page. She can write 'me' and give the color of her hair,eyes, etc. There will be a page for anyone she wants listed and also questions like her favorite song, book, colors..whatever..This should be fun working with her to get it started. Hopefully, I can get a photo once the pages get filled in some.

INTRODUCING .............

 With this being Buzz, Brag and BEE HAPPY, how could I be any happier than bringing you this post? I am so delighted to introduce you to my newest granddaughter, Miss Paisley Ann!

 Is there anything any cuter than baby feet?  (This photo is especially for my Mom, who always checks out the tiny toes right away!) 

 Porter was just precious waiting and waiting to meet his brand new little sister...  she was out being bathed, and getting a check up when he got to the hospital, so he had to wait so paitently....

 Here she comes!!  He brought her a soft, chenille bunny. 

 A tender, sweet first kiss from a loving big brother.  He is SO good with her.

 Here I am meeting our sweet girl for the first time.  She is such an easy going baby!

Monday Motivational 2/28 ~ It's A Frame Up!

Welcome to the hive!  To highlight something very special you put it in a frame!   This week we will be looking at different ways to frame your favorite photos!  Here's Rosemary ....

Welcome to Monday Motivational!!..So glad you are here to see what I have to share with you today.

Last week I spent several days with my HoneyBee sisters where we shared a 3 bedroom condo.  Each of us was asked to bring a project for all to do, and I thought of a picture frame.  I knew there would be a group photo and thought how fun it would be to design a frame to put that photo in. 

I found the perfect frame at Michael's and bought each HoneyBee one for their project.  I also brought with me a selection of different papers, punches, Nestabilities and my Mother's Day Bouquet cartridge, but the project was not restricted to use just those things I brought with me.  Each HoneyBee was to create their own frame to whatever design they wanted, and use whatever they needed to get the look they wanted.  I love how everyone brought so much to share.

For my frame, I used DCWV Linen Closet card stock.  The leaves were cut with my Sizzix die using paint chips I picked up at Home Depot.  The branches were punched with my Martha Stewart punch and I used my I-Top and card stock for the centers. Added flowers to the outside of the frame are from Wild Orchid.

We had no idea where the time was going and we wanted to do as much as we could.  I had seen some beautiful frames getting worked on so I'm excited to check back on Wednesday to see the finished projects!  Please stop back and see what our HoneyBees have done!!

Got my Witch's Broom out...

and chased away those Blogger Gremlins! Sorry about the problems with getting our post up, and being able to add these things to the bottom of Rosemary's creep-ative idea for using up some creepy old cardstock into a Be-Witching BOO banner!

Now you know I really am totally "Batty", and I've brought you another cute bat idea!! How about a hair clip or pin for your favorite ghoul when she wants to have fun???

Step one is to take a simple bat pattern, and this is the same one I've used on the banner, and my Dollar Store altered headband above. Cut out two layers of felt.

This is my Imaginisce I-TOP, and it is an extremely cool tool! It creates custom covered brads, magnets, and even screw on hair clips! Be sure to check out their website... because the I-Rock comes from them, too! Anyway, back to the tutorial.... lay a piece of felt over the brad top, and give it a squeeze, then add the brad base, another squeeze, and you've got it!

Step three was to use the I-Rock heat setting tool to add a couple of spooky eyes to the brad. The gems that I have are pink, but a quick touch with a permanent marker instantly made them red.

(Another TRICK-or-treat from Blogger!) Here is the backside of the bat, with the brad inserted. It pushed through quite easily.

Step four was to add a few hand stitches for accent then use Beacon's 3-in-1 adhesive to glue the back felt to the front. This gives it a little more stability, and covers the brad backing.

Last, but not least, wrap a piece of grosgrain ribbon around the hair clip, so it will hold securely in even the whispiest hair, and glue to the back. Fang-tastic!

How about a couple of legs instead of wings, and a pin back? Super easy, and so Squeamish!
